Our speaker this morning was Dr. Lycia Thornburg, a local dermatologist and author who created the non-profit organization "Made For Shade" to promote sun safety for children. One in five Americans will get sun cancer at some point in their lives. Made For Shade aims to prevent damage before it starts by providing sun shades for schools, playgrounds and parks, including canopies at the new Black Hills Children's Home campus. The organization has provided more than 70 sun shades in the Black Hills since it was created 20 years ago!
